100 years ago, priest Ilya Popatanasov (pop Toporcho) was the initiator for the foundation of the first community center in Kamenitsa. The comrade of Levski and Benkovski also gave the initial impetus to create another hearth of patriotism and Bulgarianness. The year is 1904, and on 6 December 50 stoners signed the founding protocol of the community center, named after priest Metodi Draginov.
The first chairman of the community center in Kamenitsa is Angel Pertichev. In the leadership are Hristo Zahov - Vice-President, Ivan Yamakov - Secretary, Georgi Damyanov - Treasurer and Hristo Maslarov - Librarian. Initially, the community center was housed in the house of the teacher Georgi Ilinov (next to Arapchal), where is also the club of the first society for education "Sinapovo berry". Then the community center is in two rooms in the house of Petar Mandilov, and after 1911. The board buys a plot and a building from Elin Peshterski. The foundation stone of the present building of the community center was laid in 1938, and four years later the community center opened with the premiere of the play "Ivanko" by Vasil Drumev. This building additionally makes the largest library in the area, the small hall, a coffee shop. For a time the community center was named "Acad. Todor Pavlov", and then changed to "Vasil Levski". In 100 years 12 presidents changed, among the most respected was Todor Yamakov.
The balance of the community center for a century is before the eyes of the whole public: until 1970. about 50 plays are played on the community center stage; a brass orchestra is created; a mixed choir is founded; the library constantly increases its fund and now has 42,391 books. It is impossible to list the names of all amateurs and community center workers who have devoted their labor and talent to the Sample People's Community Center "Vasil Levski". Countless are the awards received, among which with particular pride the amateurs stand out the order "Cyril and Methodius" I degree received for the 70th anniversary of the Chitalishte. Today, the appearance of the community center gives the composition for authentic folklore, the children's vocal group "Pom-pom", the children's and youth ensemble for folk songs and dances "Zdravche-venche", the women's choir, the men's folklore group, the animators at the Bureau of Tourist and Social Services, the library. With full right on the front page of the jubilee newspaper, just published by ONCH "Vasil Levski", writes: "The community center is a space of hope." This is what amateurs who come to the community center know best in the hope of fulfilling their mission: everyone as much as he or she can preserve and enrich the Bulgarianness and give joy and wisdom to the audience. Viewers, readers, people who like to step in the door of the community center also come here hoping to find spiritual satisfaction, to feel proud that they are Bulgarians, to keep forever the connection with the native. 8 October 2004. Exemplary people's community center "Vasil Levski" will celebrate not just another anniversary. It will celebrate 100 years of patriotism, talent and hope!
