The days from 11 to 17 March will pass under the sign of an event that is happening in Velingrad for the first time: French Cinema Week. The organizer of the interesting event is the French Cultural Institute, whose attach Mr. Jubelt will visit our city. Co-organizer is the Municipality of Velingrad, which will provide financial support, buying out several screenings for students and adults. Our city was chosen to host the movie week after in November 2004. A European Cinema Week was discussed. In the 7 days dedicated to French cinema, viewers will have the opportunity in 20 screenings to see a total of 10 films featuring major stars such as Grard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant, Catherine Deneuve, Vincent Cassel, Monica Bellucci, Daniel Otteuil and many others. The program also includes Pedro Almodvar's Spanish masterpiece Bad Education. The titles of the films are selected to satisfy a wide palette of viewer interests: from the biographical film about Maria Callas "Callas Forever" to the teen comedy "Europudding", from the action-comedy "Robbie and Quentin" and the adventure hit "The Brotherhood of Wolves" to the 4 Oscar-winning "The Pianist" and the exclusive "8 Women". The screenings will be in the hall of Community Center "V. Levski” in kv. A stone that heats up. The ticket price for all films is 1 lev, and the organizers also offer cards for all screenings at symbolic prices (see below). The main "culprit" for the holding of the Week of French Cinema is Anton Radoychev, who works with enviable enthusiasm for the existence of cinemas in Velingrad. To our question which film titles from the program of the Week the viewer should not miss, Mr. Radoychev listed: the Spanish "Bad upbringing" and "Ruby and Quentin" with Depardieu and Harvey Keitel. And who has not been able to see Roman Polanski's "The Pianist", must necessarily not miss the chance to see it on the big screen.
