From the beginning of September to the end of November, a reporting-election campaign was held in BSP organizations throughout the country. Meetings were held in all 22 main party organizations, 2 youth organizations, 9 organizations in the villages and one club of interests.
These meetings ended at the end of the past week, and the final of the reporting-election cycle will be the municipal conference on November 26. About her preparation we talked with the President of BSP-Velingrad Toma Pachalov. He explained that new leaderships were chosen at the completed meetings in many of the lower organizations. Delegates for the municipal conference were also proposed to them, with the quota being of 8 members - 1 delegate. The total number of delegates for the conference is expected to be around 130. The agenda of the conference has already been adopted at the plenum. It will start by handing out party tickets to newly admitted BSP members. A report will be presented for the period April 2004 - August 2005, which will also include a report on the work of the BSP group of municipal councilors. The activity of the control committee will also be reported, after which the election of the Municipal Council and the chairman of the BSP will proceed.
Of the main party organizations, 12 (!) proposals were made for the leader of the socialist party in Velingrad. Most names are familiar and have been circulating for years in the party ranking, there are also new names of people who actively participated in the last mayoral campaign. The large number of proposals is proof that there are no "top" names, T believes. Pachalov, who has been in charge of the BSP since March 2000 and was again nominated for the post. It is worth recalling that the nominees for President of the BSP in Velingrad are always a double-digit number in recent years.
By statute, votes for the Municipal Council and for the Chairman are secret. Traditionally, most of the nominees have self-repudiation. But surprises are also possible, as the rules allow nominations for party leader to be made during the conference itself. The conference will also elect delegates for the BSP congress, which will be held on December 3 and 4 in the capital. According to the quota requirements (of 300 members - 1 delegate) the municipal organization of BSP - Velingrad will nominate four delegates for the congress. As guests of the congress, members of the party nominated for participation in its higher bodies will be able to attend.
Invitations were sent for the municipal conference to the BSP leadership, including Sergei Stanishev. BSP deputies from the Pazardzhik region, led by the leader of the list and National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski, were invited. The hosts have also invited the local partners from the coalition - NDSV and DPS, as well as the parties from Coalition for Bulgaria.
