14 Years After Sarnica Murder: President Proposed to Simplify Duties

04.11.2008 09:00 •
With full unanimity on the proposal of the Chair of the Committee on Education C. Bozev The Municipal Council proposes to the President of Bulgaria to exercise his powers by simplifying obligations of Viktor Duvkov arising from court decisions. According to a letter from the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Pazardzhik, Commissioner Emil Ganchev to the mayor of the municipality Ivan Lebanov, the liabilities amounted to 46,761 levs plus the legal interest on the principal. Viktor Duvkov owes the amount to the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior under enforced court decisions, as the Ministry of the Interior has paid compensation for non-pecuniary damages to the heirs of Dancho Petrov from Sofia. (We recall that on April 15, 1994. in the center of Sarnitsa Chief Sergeant Viktor Davkov shot the priest Dancho Petrov). Now, after the decision of the judicial authorities, it turns out that according to data of the registry office in Velingrad V. Davkov does not own movable and immovable property, according to a reference from the NRA-Pazardzhik. Therefore, it is proposed that the president forgive the debt. As the point was voted without any discussion, at the press conference we sought, but received no comment from the chairmanship of the Municipal Council on the moral side of the decision taken.
