According to Civil Protection data, there are 22 swimming pools in the region of Velingrad. The figure includes the outdoor and indoor pools of beaches, holiday homes, hotels, the two micro dams and two smaller water areas around Grashevo and Draginovo.

The Chief of Civil Protection - Pazardzhik K. Kichov reported for "Tempo" the results of the check made during the past week. No complete documents were submitted from the Central Mineral Beach, the rescuer was without a health license, there was no permission from the Health Agency. On the new complex "Therma" (beach in Kamenica) the water was not tested by the HEI, but samples were taken. It was established that there was a doctor on the pool, and the rescuer at the time of the inspection was without a certified coupon. The beach in Chepino is being renovated, and the legal dispute between the municipality and heirs of part of the land continues around its property (the same court odyssey is not over for the Central Beach either). Mr. Kichov stressed that the owners of all checked pools performed the mandatory tick spraying. The departmental pools have not yet been checked. The Director of HEI - Velingrad Dr. S. Toporcheva reported that the department has served prescriptions to all pools and once they are implemented, the HEI will give sanitary permits. In principle, the majority of the pools in Velingrad have submitted the necessary documents and are a process of legalization, but the covenant act 16 is still a matter of future. However, the number of pools that offer coolness to the residents and guests of the city is already more than impressive. Every year, at least a few such oases appear, the latest works of a few days and is located in the Vita sanatorium (former Military Sanatorium). It remains to come true the hopes for a strong tourist season. So far, the beaches are half-empty, and prices range from 1 to 3 leva.
