In the villages 99% supported Parvanov
Georgi Parvanov-Angel Marin won convincingly the second round of the presidential elections in the municipality of Velingrad with 13,224 votes (83.69%) against 2577 votes (16.31%) for Volen Siderov - Pavel Shopov.
In the week before the run-off in Velingrad, not a single election event happened, and the election day itself passed without accidents. The only violation was the sale of alcohol on Saturday night, for which acts were drawn up at 6 establishments in the resort.
In the runoff voted 15,801 voters out of a total of 34,419 with the right to vote. Invalid ballots were 204 and those added to the electoral rolls 134. The activity of the runoff on 29 October for the municipality of Velingrad was 46.50%, about 5% above that of the first round. More actively voted in the villages where 55% of the voters went to the polls. In Velingrad, their ballots released 41% of eligible voters.
Of the 8,188 residents of Velingrad, 5713 people supported Georgi Parvanov. The current president increased his support by 813 votes from the first round, when 4,900 people voted for him in Velingrad. For Volen Siderov in Velingrad there were 2,475 ballots - only 74 more than in the first round. In all city sections leads Parvanov, who also receives all votes cast in the two Roma sections in Anezica and Asphalt base. Thus, the ratio between votes for Parvanov and Siderov in Velingrad in percentages is 70:30.
Of the settlements in the municipality, Georgi Parvanov received the votes of 99% of those who went to vote, and for Siderov - Shopov only 1% of the ballots were left. A total of 7,613 people voted in the run-off sections of the mayoralties. 7511 of them supported Parvanov, and 102 Siderov. The greater mobilization of voters in the settlements by the municipality in the second round is evident in the fact that 2,400 ballots were cast for Parvanov more than in the first round. Volen Siderov increased his support from the first to the second round from 69 to 102 votes.
The victory of the pair Parvanov - Marin on the evening of October 29 celebrated the BSP activists in Velingrad. In the party headquarters gathered many people who chanted "Parvanov", "Victory", "Bulgaria". With music and flags in front of the old building of the municipality danced, led by the President of BSP Toma Pachalov. The socialists also spun in the footsteps of the waltz, firing firecrackers and improvised mini-fireworks. Almost the entire evening at the headquarters of the BSP was also DPS-MP Fidel Beev, who carefully followed where it was voted.
