DSB MP Panayot Lyakov announced on April 4 in Velingrad that he has the claim to be the leader of the party's list in Pazardzhik region and if he is not supported, he will not participate in the elections. This is not blackmail and hand-wringing, but a clear request that should be said now. I consider myself a professional politician; if statistics on active parliamentary activity come out, I will be in the top ten; for now I am the first and only MP to be accountable to the voters, Mr. Lyakov evaluated himself. These are facts on which his claim to be a leader of the list is based, as so far he has been raised by 6 of the 13 municipalities in the district. If not at the top of the list, P. Lyakov will come out of active politics and will develop a model for the competitiveness of political organizations, which he will provide to DSB. I feel prepared for this moment, I have even written my declaration, the MP joked. Not placing him first on the list would, in his opinion, confirm the third rule he formulated: "There is no justice in politics."
Panayot Lyakov presented his personal report on what he has done in the last year of his work as a Member of Parliament: he has submitted 14 bills, made proposals for amendment of 60 laws; he has made 148 queries and topical issues from the parliamentary tribune, with which he is a real record holder. If we made election promises and took an oath, we should be accountable to the voters, believes the only MP from our region, who for 4 years did not miss a single month of the agreed day and time for a reception for citizens and a press conference for journalists in Velingrad. As an example of his well done work, Mr. Lyakov pointed out the obtained benefits for 950 owners of agricultural lands from Pazardzhik, achieved after 3 inquiries to the Minister of Agriculture M. Dikme. I can afford the luxury of standing against any minister because I have not asked anyone to do my personal work, the MP believes.
Asked how to work as a politician in opposition, he said that the ruling majority was weak and amorphous, without strong political positions and this gave rise to apathy, and a lullaby flooded a large part of the MPs. It is useful to be a politician in opposition, experience accumulates, but one should not stay out of power for long. DSB benefits from not only criticizing as opposition, but also giving clear alternatives.
The list of DSB for Pazardzhik region for the upcoming parliamentary elections will be placed by the regional assembly of the organization in late April or early May. So far, a total of 16 candidates have been nominated in individual municipalities. The nominations of DSB Deputy Chairman Ekaterina Mihaylova and Municipal Chairman Assen Popov were submitted by the organization in Velingrad. Panayot Lyakov said that he was for a secret ballot on the list. According to the statute, the regional assembly carries out an arrangement with which the national leadership of the DSB complies when determining the leaders.
During the week, the forecast given by P. Lyakov as early as Monday: a majority gathered in parliament to introduce the integral white ballot. Mr. Lyakov did not give an estimate of how much the DSB can get in the district, but promised to do so if he is a leader of the list.
