On January 18, Atanasovden, the election campaign of the candidate for mayor of the municipality of Velingrad Atanas Vodev started with a water blessing in the Church of the Assumption. Father Ivan urged the laity not to sell their votes for bananas and oranges, not to be fooled that someone drives them in the public transport cheaply and bathes them in the bathroom without money, because that is what the state and the municipality pay for. Therefore, elect a young and educated mayor who will cherish the development of the city and not his own business.
The first official meeting with the public was held that evening in the community center "Father Paisii". The hall was attended by NDSV MP Valentin Miltenov, BSP Regional Chairman Kostadin Kobakov, SDS Vice-President Ergin Emin and NIS member Mladen Vlashki, Deputy Regional Governor Ivan Avramov, Regional Leader and Member of the Permanent Presence of BZNS-NS Ekaterina Kaferinova, the Vice-President of the Liberal Union Asim Adem, the local leaders of the SDS.
We all want an intelligent and energetic mayor who will defend not his own business interests or narrow party interests, but a person who will unite. This was stated by Eng. Stefan Shulev, Chairman of the Initiative Committee that nominated Atanas Vodev. In the Initiative Committee are also Sashka Zhekova, Dr. Georgi Doshev, Avram Gerev and Roman Chilev.
Stefan Shulev briefly presented the biography of Mr. Vodev: born in 1971. in Velingrad, with higher education from the Economic University of Varna; worked in DZI, the Vocational High School of Economics and Tourism "Al. As undoubted pluses of the candidate mayor was highlighted his work as a municipal councilor, thanks to which he is up to date with the problems of the municipality and the proven successful work on numerous projects, which is of utmost importance for a manager at the present moment of accession to the European Union. In his deeds a worthy man is guided by justice, and a simple man by gain." The wish to the mayoral candidate At. Vodev was never to leave the field of justice. For 7 months there has been a clear will that the development of the municipality should be put on another basis, Atanas Vodev said in his statement. He thanked for the responsibility of being the first among equals and promised, if elected mayor, at the end of his term to show the same as his current declaration of property status.
Mr. Vodev identified several priorities of the municipality:
* to mutually respect the law, because we have seen what it costs to disregard the law and municipal interests, and personal fates;
* to revive the traditions of Velingrad as a balneological and tourist center in Europe; * to invest in education because this is the future;
* to provide affordable and quality municipal health care;
* to reduce unemployment not through social benefits and subsidized jobs, but through real sector development and incentives for employers;
* the budget of the municipality to be managed transparently and reasonably and to provide money from the European funds;
* to have interaction between the Municipal Council and the Municipal Administration, because only united and led by the municipal interest we can help ourselves to help us and God.
To Mr. Dimitar Mechev's remark that he had passed the culture, the candidate mayor replied that he had not passed it in his actions and for the short time while he was interim mayor. After him, Ekaterina Kaferinova announced that 10 formations from center-right united stood behind Mr. Vodev's candidacy because they were convinced of his honesty, competence, will to establish legality, in asserting their own position and desire to work for the city and the municipality.
