Independent candidate for mayor of Velingrad Alexander Daskalov opened his campaign on October 1 in the crowded to the limit hall of the community center in Ledgene. The national anthem brought everyone to their feet, including NIE MPs Nadka Pangarova and Siika Dimova, BSD regional chairmen Georgi Tsankov and the Party of Greens Ivan Kyulev. Mr. Daskalov gave his speech too excited by the bouquet of flowers, which surprised him two children from the audience. He thanked his parents and ancestors, among whom were some of the great public figures in our region. As a reason to run, he pointed to the backlog of Velingrad and the lack of strategy and called for voting for the future of Velingrad, because now young people do not stay here. One of the reasons is that in Velingrad created prerequisites for corruption and bribery from the smallest clerk to the largest. There are many problems in the culture - see what the community hall looks like and in sports, where talented competitors leave the city, Mr. Daskalov said. He pointed out that for 2002 in the municipal budget have entered 600 levs from municipal companies that for 13 years. The municipality has not addressed the needs of industry once. The largest employer in Velingrad are the small garage workshops, but there is no strategy for them either in 2007. They're facing closure. There is also no strategy for balneotherapy, although it is talked about 4-star hotels, there is also no structure in the OA that works to win projects. If urgent measures are not taken, things for Velingrad will collapse, Al said. Daskalov and assured the attendees that he and the candidates for advisors know how jobs are created, how markets are sought and how to invest.
Support for the independent candidate mayor announced the Chairman of the Bulgarian Social Democracy Alexander Gushevilov arguing that Mr. Daskalov meets all their criteria: there is enough education, vision, means, willing, erudite leader, works with people, has business and is a manager. The municipality is not a place for politics, the mayor should understand more than business and that is why we stand behind Mr. Daskalov, said also the leader of NIE Mariana Baylova. Support from the Green Party was given by Mrs. Svetla Arshinkova. People's representative Nadka Pangarova frankly stated that it is not easy for her to stand in front of people to whom in this hall 2 years ago. have promised much and most have not fulfilled that it is high time for the major political forces to unite around national priorities. She stressed that WE will work with all decent people and that is why they support Mr. Daskalov.
The presentation of the three lists for councilors of BSD, WE and Green Party was multimedia: on the screen appeared the photos of the candidate councilors along with short data for each of them. The opening of Alexander Daskalov's campaign ended with a theatrical performance by local amateurs.
