On January 15, the District Council and the leadership of the UDF in full, led by the President Dr. Nikola Penchev, the Vice-Presidents Apostolov and Gospodinov and the Secretary Albena Dimitrova, held its regular meeting in Velingrad. The excme of Pazardzhik Dr. Ivan Kolchakov also took part in the meeting.
It became the practice of the district management to hold its meetings outside Pazardzhik as well. That first for 2005. held in our city, it was no accident. Sam Dr. Penchev said that the reason is the upcoming partial elections for mayor of the municipality of Velingrad and added: "The district leadership of UDF stands unreservedly behind the decision of UDF-Velingrad to support the candidacy of Atanas Vodev. This is also our answer-evidence that the UDF is not encapsulated, but gives a good example not to seek only a party candidacy at any price, but to respond adequately to the challenges of the time and the wishes of the people. We are convinced that Mr. Vodev can represent the informal coalition of 7-8 parties behind him. The chairman of the Regional Council of UDF expressed confidence that the election campaign will be positive with accurate and clear messages to reach the people of the city and the municipality. For the District Council of UDF Atanas Vodev is the consensus figure, characterized by a new type of thinking. The meeting was also attended by VID Atanas Vodev, who thanked for the trust and added: "This support I accept as a willingness to share responsibility - tolerant, correct, diplomatic and firm."
