A few months ago, a survey was conducted in 12 Bulgarian municipalities, including Velingrad, under the project "The place of the Bulgarian woman in United Europe". It was carried out by the Association "For Women in Business" with the participation of 848 women between the ages of 20 and 55. The summarized results were presented last week in Sofia at a meeting with the participation of the Minister of Labour Hristina Hristova. Vaska Milusheva - Director of ARK-CBI, Vesela Tsintseva - Director of Radio "ChLC" and Maria Batachka - owner of "Mariam" confectionery took part in the meeting. The survey shows that Bulgarian businesswomen have not only reached, but have overtaken their colleagues from the European Union in terms of degree of education. 63% of female entrepreneurs in Bulgaria have higher education, and in the EU they are 44%.
We are close to the EU in that 72% of Bulgarian businesswomen are married and with children (in the EU the percentage is 76) and start a business around 35 years. The Bulgarian woman is much more favored with the help and support she receives at home - 77% of the respondents say that there is someone to rely on, while in the EU they are only 43% and the combination of family and professional life is a serious obstacle to work.
82% of Bulgarian women manage micro-enterprises with up to 9 people, 85% work over 50 hours a week, as is the situation in the EU. As main difficulties Bulgarian women have pointed out financial - 565, insufficient self-confidence - 20%, finding the right contacts - 25%. As reasons to start their own business, most determine the opportunity to make their own decisions, the desire for freedom, better profit, desire to work for themselves.
The survey also shows that the ladies from Levski and Sofia are most optimistic, and the biggest pessimists are in Veliko Tarnovo.
