BSP: We are satisfied with what has been achieved

- Mr. Pachalov, the final results of the second round of the presidential elections for the municipality of Velingrad are already known: 9433 votes for Petar Stoyanov, 8485 for Georgi Parvanov. How would you comment on these figures?
- To your question earlier I had said that in these elections the results for the BSP will be better compared to the parliamentary elections this year and the previous presidential elections in 1996. The final results prove it.
From the results in the city we are satisfied, our Parvanov-Marin pair won 1730 more votes than the Stoyanov-Kutskova pair. As for the results of the villages: according to preliminary estimates we expected 1100-1200 votes, and we got 1560 - that is, more than we planned. This is also due to our work in the villages, and to the help from the DPS in the last days of the campaign.

But I believe that the DPS is not what it used to be: blindly, unquestioningly voting and carrying out the instructions of the plant. People reflect on their constitutional right to vote. The area did not vote against us because it did not accept social policy sufficiently, but because the old refrain "communism - anti-communism" was used. Such notes were in St. Petka, Draginovo and other places. In villages where unemployment is lowest, they voted for P en masse. Stoyanov - Draginovo, Sarnitsa, St. Petka. In villages where there is mass impoverishment and unemployment, people adopted the social policy of our couple: for example, in Vranenitsi we do not have a party structure, but 78.88% voted for us, in Tsvetino - 78.65%, we have good results in Rohlevo - 69 votes in 2-3 previous elections. In Sarnitsa, we were voted less in Roosters, where the lobby of the current mayor is. We note that in different companies it has also been said who to vote for, but this is normal practice and people, fearing for their work, have fulfilled the robotator's order - for example, in Draginovo. In St. Petka is superimposed opposition communism - anti-communism with threats to change names, increase prices of essential goods, etc.
- At an election meeting with Georgi Pirinski it was reported that you have to win the vote in the city and that is exactly what happened. Is the convincing result only due to the BSP?
- Yeah, and all the left-wing formations in the city. We analyzed and accounted for our reserves in the city. Where our assets have done their job well, the results are good. Where not - are weaker. We have known for years that some sections are traditionally "blue" and we tried to get closer to the population there, but we failed everywhere - the sections in Detmag, Resort Polyclinic, Secondary School "Cyril and Methodius" and others. A reporting-election campaign in the party and an extraordinary congress are forthcoming, we will be looking for more active people. We studied 3-4 sections and we realize how much of the young people have supported us. We have a lot of support and that is why we will focus our work on the young and in the villages.
- I do not deny and do not downplay the work of your party asset, but what else motivates Veligrad citizens to support Georgi Parvanov?
- We have succeeded to a great extent in reaching the voters with the messages of our couple and the socially directed policy. Confrontation will not solve the problems of Velingrad, we will solve them when we work together. Denial is not always useful for constructiveness and overall work.
- The presidential elections gave an idea of how BSP and DPS work in synchrony in our municipality. Should we expect improvement and strengthening of this synchrony at the local level?
Presidential elections are over, local elections are coming up. It would be wrong for this political force to be unaware of what lies ahead. The good tone between DPS and BSP in our municipality dates back longer. For the second round of the last local elections, after a thorough deliberation, the BSP supported the DPS candidate for mayor, although it could not convince its electorate completely, as the DPS did not now. Given these relationships, they will continue, and I expect better interaction. Moreover, the people who support us are on the far left - a socially weak population. We are collecting data on what to pay attention to and through our deputies we will submit a bill for the development of the South-West Rhodopes. It will seek to create real jobs - for example in forestry and agriculture, social benefits, solving the problems of potato growers. It is not by chance that Gen. Marin in Velingrad coincided with the Feast of Potatoes - this was targeted because potatoes are our main livelihood. We will insist that social benefits be earned and that people receive rights such as work experience, etc.
- Of all the municipalities in the district, only Pazardzhik and Velingrad remained "blue" at the presidential elections. However, is the local BSP organization coming out with increased self-esteem from this vote?
- We are satisfied with what has been achieved. For the foreseeable future, we will work so that we are not among the 30 municipalities in all 261 municipalities in Bulgaria, where we are in minus. There is a big difference between presidential, parliamentary and local elections. Indicative of electoral support for us are local elections, there depends what you have done for the city and the municipality. Right now we are starting to work for the regular local elections in 2 years - with roads and programs for youth, with a law for the South-West Rhodopes, etc.
Here is the place to thank everyone who supported us - 8485 people who understood and appreciated the social policy of our couple. I thank the entire asset - 300-400 people who worked in the campaign and the asset of the other parties and movements in the left space, all partners in the Coalition for Bulgaria and more of the DPS, BCP "G. Dimitrov", BEL, the Bloc of Georges Ganchev, the Green parties of Karakachanov and Portochanov, "Free Bulgaria", the political unions "Fatherland" and "Defense".
- Let's look at the near future - who will be the new leader of BSP?
- The new leader will be among the names that were already "nominated" in the media: Sergey Stanishev, Georgi Bojinov, Rumen Petkov, Rumen Ovcharov, Georgi Pirinski. It's hard to say which one has the best chances. I personally would support younger and more unencumbered.
