Full hall, standing up and shouting "Victory" - this is how the meeting of General Angel Marin - BSP vice-presidential candidate, accompanied by MP Georgi Pirinski, with voters from Velingrad began.
Opening the election meeting, the leader of the BSP in the municipality, Toma Pachalov, said: "Georgi Parvanov is our presidential candidate because he is one of those who stood at the heart of the renewal of the Bulgarian left and imposed dialogue as a form of communication. General Angel Marin is our candidate for Vice President because Bulgaria and every Bulgarian needs dignity." Marin and formulated in one sentence the reason why he ran for vice president: "Because I want all of us to elect a better president and he to be a decent man who values his and his compatriots dignity, not to be a buffoon. A worthy president means not to anticipate the demands and expectations of the people from outside, but to proceed from the interests of Bulgaria." The general explained that there are no formations in the Bulgarian Army (BA) to participate in such events as those in Macedonia and accused the current president of actively destroying the BA, which served him only as a background of his Presidency and of making promises that we cannot fulfill. And more: "Peter Stoyanov is a party president who with his actions covered up actions of his party. His candidacy for a new term is an attempt to rematch the UDF (UDF), to return to power, and his re-election means no change in the fight against corruption is expected." With the wish the President of Bulgaria to personify the greatness, culture and originality of the Bulgarian nation, and Bulgaria to remain the homeland of our children and grandchildren, the Vice Presidential candidate, General Marin, finished his exposition. The questions from the hall showed that people are excited and afraid that the internal and external pressure on the presidential couple (if elected) will force them to "funny" actions and decisions like in the time of Jean Videnov and especially from the general's opinion on NATO. The vice-presidential candidate reassured the attendees by saying: "Both Mr. Parvanov and I have proven that we can stand our ground. The only guarantee we can give you is our sense of personal dignity, prestige and responsibility to the nation. We've both proven that. We commit to you that such a thing will not happen. Personally, I do not see myself in such a role." As for NATO, the general replied that the most important is the interest of Bulgaria. Our country cannot stand alone and isolated and at the same time exist and develop. The realities in the world are such that the only power at this moment that really influences the world is NATO. In this sense, Gen. Marin defined the main question for Bulgaria as follows: "The goal or means for us is NATO" and replied: "For me, NATO is a means of guaranteeing our national security and in this sense there is no contradiction between me and Mr. Parvanov and the party headed by him." The leader of the Bulgarian Communist Party "Georgi Dimitrov" Pepa Tashkova announced that the party supports the presidential couple unreservedly, for which she received the applause of the hall. There were questions related to the return of the Slavonic-Bulgarian History, to the creation of a professional army, could the SS rockets be saved, to whom the secret services should be subordinated (according to the general, strict parliamentary and civil control is needed for the secret services, which is now lacking). With the promise of a social reading of the Constitution, if elected and again with cries of "Victory", ended the first election meeting in our city since the presidential race started. After Velingrad Gen. Marin headed for a meeting in Rakitovo. Veska Bozhkova
