The criminal hand of the poachers destroys the green wealth of the beautiful Bulgarian resort of Velingrad. Organized and well-planned logging is rampant in the vicinity of the city. Actions worthy of a crime series are played.
At the entrance of Velingrad, next to the bridge of the Mutnitsa River and along the main road, there are properties of velingradians legally present in the cadastre of agricultural properties. Planted years ago by the hands of good farmers with poplar trees. This living green stripe creates cosiness and has an important ecological sense. The poplar plantations in question, and all the like, are protected by the law on the conservation of permanent crops, art. 33 of the same law states: "It is not permitted to cut down or uproot trees that are found... off the banks of rivers and ravines where these trees serve anti-erosion or water-regulating purposes". The poplars in question are planted here precisely for such purposes.
Within the range of the poplar plantations next to the river Mutnitsa is a property with cadastral number 035009, privately owned with an area of 4334 sq.m. and with about 100 poplars. Early February 2002. on a "white day", around 14 o'clock, another vendetta begins for the area. A group of people well versed in this activity, "armed" with logging and sawing equipment and specialized auto transport - triosca, enter the private property unceremoniously and perform wholesale felling of 31 pieces of huge kavakov trees (to date, the felled trees are already 33, which means that others are probably taking advantage of the situation as well). A mobile guard of State Forestry "Velingrad" arrived at the place of the played fiesta, but it failed to stop the felling, as the "working" with poplars said that they were executing an order of the owners of the property (without showing a document of ownership) and that they were clearing the ground for the construction of a large parking lot!
Alarms wake that one day the rightful owners will find decapitated and the other 50 poplars and built parking on their own land! The advance against poplars will continue within the borders of neighboring private properties until their complete liquidation. The motive for these looting actions is the good profit in the processing of kavacs into pallets in criminal carpentry workshops and impunity by the respective legal institutions. The cutting of the kavaks is preceded by the cutting and total stripping of the beautiful area of the Guard, of the pine forest above the Military Sanatorium and the base of the Council of Ministers, near the monastery of St. George, where the hiking trails that lead to famous sites begin. The case of the poplar "murder" was followed only after a month with another night action over the Kislovodsk hut. State Forestry "Velingrad" in the face of its employees detects a heavily loaded car full of freshly cut pines. White pine of certain sizes and high quality was chosen - expensive material. According to specialists, it was custom-made and planned carefully. The manner of the actions of the poachers leads us to think of the same scenarios and performers of the two action films Mutnitsa and Kislovodsk.
May the authoritative institution Municipality in the face of the mayor Dr. Dafov have the will to integrate the efforts of the Prosecutor's Office and the Police for the conservation of the pine forests and other tree plantations of Velingrad - a pledge of its prosperity as an ecologically clean city suitable for holidays of Bulgarians and foreigners!
