CECMI Sets Chronogram for Mayoral Elections

The Central Election Commission for Local Elections (CECMI) set a chronogram for the partial election for mayor of the Municipality of Velingrad on February 12, 2005.
By January 7, 2005. CECMI will register parties and coalitions to participate in the partial election. So far, the political parties "Bulgarian Social Democracy", UDF, Political Movement "Social Democrats", BSP, DPS, "BZNS-People's Union", "Democrats for Strong Bulgaria", NDPS, UBT, "NS-BZNS" and NDSV have registered for participation. The municipal election commission in Velingrad will register the parties and coalitions by January 12. By January 17, polling stations are to be formed and Sectional Electoral Commissions (SICs) appointed. This is also the final deadline for registration of the candidates for mayors and the draw will be drawn to determine the number of ballots. On January 17, the official start of the election campaign will be given, which will end at 24 o'clock on February 10. On 11 February will be the day for reflection, on 12 February - the first round of elections, and on 19 February - the second round, if in the first round none of the candidates gets more than half the votes.
Voter entries on the electoral roll will take place by January 28, and the removal of errors on the lists after a voter's written application - by February 4. The right to vote and to be elected have the persons who are address registered in the municipality of Velingrad as of 22 November 2004.
