The Solemn Celebration of 60 Years of September 9, 1944. in Velingrad, organized by BSP, started with performances of the Representative Brass Orchestra in front of the monument of resistance. Here gathered socialists, supporters of similar left-wing formations, municipal councilors from BSP, NDSV, the Green Party, veterans of the wars, attended by interim mayor Stoyan Dulev and ousted Fidel Beev. Wreaths and flowers were served in front of the monument of resistance, but unlike previous years, such were not placed in front of the monument of participants in the wars in front of the church in Ledgene.
In the central square "Nikolay Gyaurov" the celebration continued with the speech of the reserve officer Georgi Zlatinov. He designated 9 September 1944. as a bright day, a historical work not of one party, but of all democratic and anti-fascist forces united in the Fatherland Front. To deny September 9 is to deny the Bulgarian contribution to the fight against fascism; then issues of the national cause were resolved such as the end of the alliance with Hitlerist Germany, and in 45 years 3 Bulgarias were built, Mr Zlatinov said. He denied accusations that the guerrillas were misfits, terrorists and dairies pogroms, and were freedom fighters. About the shootings of innocent people after 9 September, the speaker admitted that lawlessness was probably allowed, but "the time was troubled." As a participant in the creation of a documentary about the People's Court, Mr. Zlatinov commented about the convicts that "all were not water non-naught". Many figures were quoted in the speech about the given victims, but the final conclusion was that today it is not necessary to make statistics of blood, but we should, like the Spaniards, leave the tragic pages in the twentieth century.
Mr. Zlatinov concluded his speech with an appeal in Velingrad to live, manage and cooperate "without a stone in the bosom". The people in the city are traumatized by division and revenge, they want to work for the interests of the municipality by real democrats, patriots, patriots, knowledgeable and accessible rulers.
From the tribune his poem about Milevi Skali recited Liliana Shumanova. Then BSP chairman - Velingrad Toma Pachalov read a congratulatory address from Sergey Stanishev to the living participants in the anti-fascist resistance. The congratulatory addresses, styled with a drawing of Svetlin Rusev, received 68 Velingradians. The celebration ended with performances by the Representative Brass Orchestra and the Cheerleading Band.
