Thus answered my first question the Mayor of Rakitovo Municipality Eng. Dimitar Andonov almost a year after winning the local elections. Almost because he took office after a run-off in early November, and according to him, the actual work of his team had only begun in the spring. The main purpose of his mandate Mr. Andonov defined as turning the municipality into a center of ecotourism, hunting tourism, balneotherapy. It is hoped that the hard work of his team in this direction will lay the foundations for this development. But in order to implement the venture, it is necessary to radically solve the issue of water supply. During the past first year of the management were developed and funded by the Commission for Disasters and Accidents the capping of the "White Road" gully; a project for 300 000 BGN was won for the water supply network in Kostandovo; a project for Rakitovo was also developed for additional water supply from "Tuparov Chark", which was submitted for approval and funding by SAPARD. There are appetites for the Rakitovo municipality as a place to live and tourism. Israeli citizens have bought 4 houses in the village. Dorkovo. A mixed association was established between "Country Club" Rakitovo and Center for Biological Diversity with Englishmen for development of hunting bases, tourism, etc. The English partners want to provide them with land for game farming and construction of huts for tourism. As well done work and useful benefits for the population, the mayor defines the opening of the Emergency Medical Aid Unit, which is well equipped with the ambulance donated by Italy. Also the preservation of the Fire Service, for which 2 staff units were allocated and also received a fire truck from Germany. Mr. Andonov once again expressed his gratitude to Mr. Hristo Tuparov, with whose help these cars arrived.
At the beginning of his manada at a meeting with the regional governor of his question about the development of the municipality Mr. Andonov shared that "in Rakitovo garbage to collect, you will make an impression." During the past period, the garbage is collected regularly, which does not mean that Rakitovo and the surrounding settlements are clean. The problem is in the minds of the residents of the municipality. Containers are used to dispose of waste around them, and any empty space between houses is used as a dump. Otherwise, criticisms about cleanliness are heard regularly by people, but if they sweep in front of their houses and start dumping the waste into bins and containers, the view will be more attractive. It's good for the citizens to keep the good. With pain Mr. Andonov shared that the violets planted in the spring in front of the museum and the flowers at the intersection for Kostandovo were stolen for 2-3 days, and the shafts in the streets are missing and create a danger of injuries. All these hardships do not discourage the mayor and his team, and he is convinced that regular maintenance of the cleanliness and ennoblement of green areas will be a step towards educating our minds as citizens.
Currently, work is being done on the renovation and upgrading of the city toilet. 12 computers were purchased for the needs of municipal administration. By the end of the year, 2 full-time police officers are expected to be released for night duty, the road to the Tsepina fortress is paved.
To my question what caused him to submit to the session the issue of the exit of the Municipality of Rakitovo from the joint-stock company "Sutka 2000" Mr. Andonov explained that the minimum share of our municipality in the company and the fact that the entire terrain of the project is in the Rakitovo land, and the alleged funds will go to the coffers of the partners, makes our present participation meaningless. He is not against the realization of the project, but believes that going out with him to the investors market will be the better alternative for Rakitovo.
Naturally, I also asked the mayor for his opinion on the issue of Roma integration, which was discussed at several meetings in the municipality very heatedly. His view is that the lowering of directives from above for a radical solution of the problem does not take into account the real reality, where the parents' desire is leading. And the doors of all municipal schools are open to anyone who wants to study in them.
