When we wrote about problems with security and illegal logging in Rakitovo State Forestry, the former management expressed intention to bring us to justice and described our publication as a result of personal attitude.

The events of the last week show that the new management does not bury its head in the sand like an ostrich, but is aware that only with cruti measures can the rest of the forest be saved and work on the lost as a customs officer authority of the forest official. The current Director Eng. Dimitar Andonov with a letter dated January 17 this year. calls for support to be protected "the authority of the state, its interests and property, as well as the authority of the forest employee". The letter is addressed to District Governor, Regional Forest Management, Municipal Council and Mayor of Rakitovo, District Prosecutor's Office, Tax Office, "Energy Supply" and RSBAB - Velingrad. The problem of forest protection from illegal logging in DL "Rakitovo" has been defined in the letter as "Problem - 1" since 1990. Avalanche growing composed acts (1998. - 364 pieces,... 2001. - 1115 pieces), but the collectability of the penal decrees that have entered into force is minimal: there are people with 10 acts of 3 years. On the territory of Rakitovo municipality the number of workshops for processing round timber (excluding furniture workshops) is 201. The number of bansions in the homes (known to the forestry officials) is: 24 No. - Rakitovo, 19 pc. - Dorkovo and 80 pc. (!) - Kostandovo. It is not difficult to guess that a large part of these banzaks work not always in accordance with the Forestry Act and apparently destroy the forest fund. Exposing the facts, the management of DL "Rakitovo" asks for assistance and intervention to eliminate all illegal bansions located in homes in the regulation of settlements. As first steps, it is proposed: to the municipal mayor - to issue an order for the closure of illegal workshops; to the State Claims Agency - effective collection of fines; to the judicial authorities - to seek criminal liability for systemic offenders, regardless of the fact that the damage to individual acts is less than 2 minimum wages; proposals for joint meetings on pressing issues. The letter immediately caused a backlash. The Union for Business Initiative - Rakitovo (SSI) sent a letter to Mayor G. Mihailov, in which he asks for assistance to be extended the deadline for voluntary execution of the orders to ban the use of carpentry workshops. In SSI - Rakitovo there are 52 timber processing companies. Of these, 31 have usage permits (PS). There are another 14 companies in the industrial zones of the three settlements in a procedure of legalization. The problem is that since 14 January, the supply of electricity to companies that do not have FPs has been suspended. SSI declares that they will support the management of DL "Rakitovo" in its actions under the aforementioned "Problem - 1". In turn, Mayor G. Mihailov has sent to RDNSC - Pazardzhik a request to extend the deadline for voluntary execution of the orders for prohibition of the exploitation, access and interruption of el. energy and water by arguing with poor weather conditions that prevent carpentry workshop owners from carrying out the finishing works. "Problem - 1" is also on the agenda of this week's municipal session. The councillors will discuss the problem of illegally built wood processing workshops, illegal logging and timber processing imported by Ms. Lazarina Statteva and SSI.
