On November 14, the Commission for Protection of Monuments of Culture (CPC) at the Municipality of Velingrad held its regular monthly meeting. The Commission works on public grounds and what unites its members is their great love for Velingrad and the villages of the municipality. Members of the committee are people of all ages, education, work and social status, but with a sense of concern for everything created by our ancestors.
In September, a committee was elected with members Mr. Georgi Kumanov, Mrs. Radka Totolakova and Mrs. Nadezhda Angelova with the task to carry out a review of the architectural monuments of culture in our city. At the meeting on November 14, the committee presented a report "Updated information on the state of architectural monuments of culture in the town of Velingrad". Following the list of the National Institute for Monuments of Culture, the members of the commission have found destruction of such in Velingrad on ul. "Han Asparuh", numbers 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29. The assumption of the commission is that this happened during the construction of the Zdravets hotel and the Gergana residential block. At 7 Tsanko Tserkovski Street the house was destroyed in all likelihood this year. Commission officials also raised the question of who authorized the reconstruction of the former RSKU building, carried out in 2000. It is about the clock building in Kalna Banya Square, whose renovation did not meet the requirements for the preservation of architectural monuments. Based on the facts, the Commission for Protection of Cultural Monuments in our city requires from TSU answers and appropriate measures. Worrying is the Commission's finding on the condition of the former "Home for Children and Adolescents" and "Red Villa". Currently, only the skeletons of the once beautiful and representative buildings are left of these two architectural monuments. In both cases, the restitution, instead of helping to preserve them, led in front of the eyes of the residents and guests of the resort to the complete ruin of local architectural landmarks. It is perfectly logical that the recommendation to the management of the Municipality should take the appropriate measures against the owners on the grounds of the ZPC and the ZOC. A legal opportunity should be sought since the new owners do not take care of the buildings, then the state and the municipality to find an option to protect them in their capacity as monuments of culture. The Commission recommends special attention of the Municipality to the oldest buildings - monuments of culture in Velingrad: "Cream bath" - built in 1751, "Radonova bath" - built in 1750, as well as to "Women's bath" (sq.Lydzhene and Chepino), built in the first half of the 19th century. Some of them are already given by the municipality on concession, but the new owners will necessarily have to comply with the status of the buildings as monuments of culture. The Commission recommends the Municipality to find a way to repair the "Syrna Banya" and the building on ul. "Han Asparuh" 28. The Commission for Protection of Monuments of Culture on the basis of the information provided by its representatives, thanked for the good attitude and excellent condition of the owners and the responsible persons of the following monuments of culture: 3, 3, Ivaylo Str. 16, Kolchagovata (Horozovata) house, Forestry in the district. Ludzhene, Holy Trinity Church Kamenitza. The CPC will prepare a proposal for the entry of new ones of local importance, united under the title "Urban architecture of the 1920s". Veska Bozhkova
