Tradition became the annual holding of an International Festival for sourced authentic folklore in the village of Dorkovo, Rakitovo municipality. With each passing year, interest in it rises, the number of willing ensembles to perform on its stage increases. Starting in 1996, the festival has gone from regional to national level and has been at international level for six years now. Since 1999. is included in the international festival of the National Assembly of CIOFF - Bulgaria (CIOFF is an international council of organizers for folklore and traditional arts, having representations in 75 countries).
Receiving financial and moral support from the municipality and with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture, foundations, business representatives, the festival is successfully held to this day. We cordially thank ALL who support our patriotic initiative - the annual holding of this wonderful holiday for Dorkovtsi and guests of the event.
As the only international festival for authentic folklore in the country, the goal of the community center and the town hall is to increase the quality of the held festival and to enhance the activity of the community center as participation of more groups representing different regions of the country, as well as of authentic ensembles from abroad, diversity and attractiveness in the program of the festival days.
What is new this year is the conduction of a national review by the National Assembly of the CIOFF in Bulgaria of the authentic compositions. A competent jury will evaluate and award certificates with the title: "Representative Folklore Collective of the National Assembly of CIOFF - Bulgaria" and approved for participation in international folklore festivals abroad.
The international groups this year are from: Hungary, Greece, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, and the Bulgarian collectives exceed 50. The preparation and conduct of the festival is carried out by an Organizing Committee, chaired by Mr. Nikolay Kovachev - Mayor of Dorkovo, and the members are volunteers. We invite all fans of spring folklore to come to the festival to enjoy the performances of Bulgarian and foreign groups, to immerse themselves in a sea of colors and embroideries.
