A huge crowd of people gathered this year also the seventh edition of the international festival for authentic folklore in Dorkovo. The Bulgarian rhythms and colors of more than 50 folk ensembles merged with the whole variety of European folklore from the Czech Republic, Serbia, Turkey, the incredible composition of Greece, Spain, with the uniqueness of Georgia and with the two ensembles from the United States, which showed excellent knowledge of Bulgarian folklore. The festival program started on Friday evening with a parade of international guests, led by the cheerleading squad of Velingrad and the hosts from Dorkovo. Mayor of Dorkovo Nikolay Kovachev welcomed NDSV MP Valentin Miltenov and the entire leadership of Rakitovo Municipality in the person of Mayor Dimitar Andonov, his deputies M. Veleva and A. Parizov, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Yussain Seydev. After the official ceremony, the mirth continued for more hours in the hot summer evening and with the participation of the folk performer Valya.
The solemn beginning of the festival was given on Saturday morning by the S.Sc. Dr. Mihail Bucharestliev, chairman of the jury together with the choreographer and representative of the International Folklore Organization Agrippina Voynova and the journalist and president of the music house "The End of the Hearth" Victoria Stoyanova. A greeting to the guests was made by the ensemble "Shepherd's Song" - Dorkovo, and the presenters reminded the numerous listeners the contribution of the late founders of the ensemble B. Krivoshyski and Shteryo Duzov.
On Saturday and Sunday on the stage in front of the community center sang and danced day and night over 60 folk groups. They did not stop the fun, the friendly meetings, the numerous restaurants and stalls opened especially for the festival. This year the festival was organized by Dorkovo City Hall, Community Center "St. Sv. Cyril and Methodius" and ensemble "Shepherd's Song" - Dorkovo. Financial assistance was provided by the Municipality of Rakitovo, foundations and many sole traders and companies. For the first time among the sponsors of the already established festival was not the Ministry of Culture.
A week before the three-day folk fiesta, Dorkovo also hosted the traditional sports games. In the football tournament they measured forces 4 teams from Dorkovo and 2 from Kostandovo. In the final, Territoria 1 defeated Strawberry 4-3 after a penalty shootout. Four teams from Velingrad, Kostandovo and Dorkovo participated in the volleyball tournament, won by the residents against the hosts.
