DSB: Money says BSP wins, but the vote will be different

14.06.2005 09:10 •
On Sunday afternoon, DSB leader Ivan Kostov was welcomed in Velingrad by a full hall of sympathizers. Ekaterina Mihailova presented the list of DSB, of which she is the leader. The chairman of DSB in Velingrad Assen Popov gave his frank answer to the question why he chose this party: because of the moral discrepancy from the fact that Kostov's government pulled the state out of bankruptcy, and received only blasphemies and slanders; because of the fact that the new leadership of the UDF humiliated its sympathizers by fawning around Simeon and Dogan. The creation of DSB was an immune reaction of a sick organism, of a disillusioned society to preserve morality, Mr. Popov said. His colleague from Rakitovo N. Baldzhiev was laconic: DSB offers the most realistic opportunities and bets on the young.
Ivan Kostov with his inherent definiteness said: it is not decided who will win the elections. The campaign is powerfully influenced by money and they say that BSP will win, but on June 25 people will say with their vote who is the winner. DSB seeks the trust of all those who do not vote for BSP with a few basic theses. First: the BSP cannot govern, the proof is S. Stanishev and the surrounding team of Jean Videnov. Second: DSB is against the rehabilitation of the former communist regime, which is the root of organized crime. Third: Everyone fawns around Dogan, and he fawns around BSP. The Bulgarian ethnic model is fiction, Dogan holds the Muslims in fear and represses them with the local authorities. Dogan cannot be a guarantor of ethnic peace, Bulgarian tolerance has been a guarantee since the Liberation in 1878. Fourth: DSB wants a radical change of the Constitution - MPs and magistrates to be without immunity, the investigation and the prosecution to be in the executive power.
More than an hour went on the questions from the hall: about pensions, referendums, agriculture, demographic collapse, health care, relations to religious minorities, etc. DSB will bet on local referendums, considers it a serious commission from voters to change the pension law and to finish the health care reform they started. Ivan Kostov once again directly attacked Dogan with accusations that illegal logging is a major business of the DPS, that they have ridden the Bulgarian forest, racketeering all companies in the industry and have weakened the control in order to enrich themselves. Insults were also heard by DPS MP Fidel Beev, who came to his feet to hear Ivan Kostov.
