21.10.2003 18:57 •
On one track, Velingrad overtook Bansko and many other Bulgarian resorts: on October 18, the new five-star hotel "The Palace" opened here. The news that the State Commission on Categorization awarded the Palace one more than the expected four stars came hours before the opening. Five-star hotels in Bulgaria are counted on tiptoe and among them is already one of the resurrected symbols of Velingrad - built in 1949/51. union house "The Palace", which its new owners Ventsislav Slavchev and Miroljub Stolarski bought from the state-owned company "PRO" EAD about 5 years ago.
The new hotel has retained the exterior facade of the building, but the huge renovation and investments convincingly confirm the name. And the name "The Palace" is preserved not accidentally, but as an emblem of the city, as a sign that a symbol of Velingrad has been preserved and removed from history. It has 115 rooms and 6 apartments, 4 dining options (restaurant with 200 seats, day bar, Vienna pastry shop, night bar-variete and summer cocktail-bar in the unique artificial cave in the hotel yard). The yard is immersed in greenery, and guests can use overground and underground parking, two swimming pools, tennis courts and all the extras of modern balneology.
The Palace currently employs a team of 110 people - young and more experienced people. We have staked on a team entirely of local people, so we contribute to the development of social life in Velingrad and will pass on experience by relying on serious professional training and setting a high standard, said for the newspaper. "Tempo" the executive director of the hotel Mrs. Svetla Paskaleva. The five stars of the hotel suggest first of all a much higher category of service and care for the guests. The official opening of the new hotel took place on October 18 in the evening and started with a program of the Representative Brass Orchestra and the cheerleading squad. Father Anton performed a water blessing and together with a group of choristers from Velingrad performed "Mnogaya summers" as a wish to his friends, owners of the hotel.
The list of guests at the opening was long: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Lydia Shuleva, Minister of Justice Anton Stankov, Minister of Energy Milko Kovachev, Deputy Social Minister Rumen Simeonov, MPs from NDSV Milena Milotinova, Valentin Miltenov, Lyutskan Dalakchiev, Regional Governor Ivan Dimitrov, the Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Hotel and Restaurateurers Blagoy Ragin and the Chairman of the local branch union Zlatko. The municipality was represented by Angel Toporchev, arch. Enev and D. Filipova. Among the guests were the mayoral candidates Dr. Cv. Dafov and N. Deliev.
The ribbon cut the owners of the "Palace" V. Slavchev and M. Stolarski. First delivered a welcoming speech Mrs. Lydia Shuleva, who stressed that there is no greater joy for Velingrad than the revival of one of its symbols and that the five-star hotel is a guarantee that our city will develop at a rapid pace. She thanked the owners for what they did and wished them health, many tourists and more followers. Mr. Slavchev expressed gratitude to the municipal councilors, the chief architect and the mayor Dr. Tsvetan Dafov, who selflessly helped them. Dr. Dafov also offered congratulations to the owners that they have made a dream come true for the residents of Veligrad. He pointed out that the Palace is an example of the interaction between the municipality and investors. With "Thank you, Veske" Mr. Slavchev addressed Mrs. Vesca Dobreva, emphasizing the huge importance of her efforts for the "Palace".
After the official part, the cocktail for the guests started, and since October 19, the Palace welcomes its first visitors. "The people we want to come to the Palace will raise Velingrad on its feet," the newspaper said. "Tempo" Mr. Stolarski. Elena Baeva
