Last week in Velingrad arrived Mr. Emil Stoynev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Triathlon Federation and Mr. Ivan Tsenov, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. They came at the personal invitation of Todor Bozev, head of the Sports and Tourism Department, to see part of the sports base in our city.
The representatives of the two federations looked at the sports hall in the city stadium and the indoor swimming pool.

The interest of the triathlon federation is not from yesterday. It is known that for four years now Velingrad has been hosting a triathlon tournament, which is held in July and has recently also been associated with the celebration of the city's holiday. Mr. Stoynev shared that it is not only the sports base that is the reason why Velingrad is an attractive place for triathletes. He believes that there is an ideal combination of natural conditions here: climate, altitude, fresh air and mineral water. His idea is with the assistance of the Municipality to create a sports center for the preparation of Bulgarian and foreign athletes. Mr. Tsenov paid more attention to the sports hall and, in his words, it is fully ready to conduct training in the preparatory period of basketball teams. For competitions, the hall is not yet suitable, but with some improvements to the backgammon and with the availability of an electronic scoreboard, matches for children and adolescents can be organized.
