Minutes after the announcement of the OIC decision, Mr. Fidel Beev invited journalists to the mayor's office. Here are his first comments about the events of the last week (questions and answers are conveyed in abbreviations):
- How would you comment on the OIC's decision to remove you from the mayoral post?
The decision doesn't surprise me. At this ratio of political forces in the OI it was clear - NMSS has the most votes. This is a political decision, they are obliged to vote not by law, but politically. Until you pass the Supreme Administrative Court, there will be no fix with this thing. The municipality will not stop working. The deputy mayors will stay, I'll take a break, I have a reservation made for a vacation.
- Have you broken the law?
- There are documents that show that I did not violate it. In Bulgaria, the situation will be as long as there are no combined elections with a majority system and while the parties are in charge. It is not advantageous for any party for Velingrad to have a mayor who is independent (here journalists remind Mr. Beev that he is not a de facto independent mayor, but is elected by the Green Party in Bulgaria). I make my own decisions. Among these 11 people, there is not one whose interest is not stepped on - fired, laid off. As long as Bulgaria is governed by a political party such as the NMSS, it will sink. We have presented to the OIC evidence that we have taken steps to exit the companies. I filed, the court didn't get me out.
- Which deputy mayor do you think should become mayor?
- The one who has the greatest administrative experience - Stoyan Dulev. Deputy mayors also have rank.
- How would you comment on Galya Kyuleva's bribery case?
- I can't comment, it's all proven. This shows another absurdity in Bulgaria. A man who gets caught with a $10,000 bribe is released after 24 hours and comes to vote. I'm starting to get scared, Bulgaria is not going on a good road.
I'm not here for me. I have everything, our companies are working. If it wasn't for so many people standing behind me, I would have resigned. To me, this chair is not an obsession. I'm sitting here, I don't take a salary, I can't do my job on a firm basis. I am not standing on the mayoral chair to fill my pocket, I am an exception in Bulgaria. If it wasn't for people's overwhelming trust, I'd be gone by now. It's not worth the best years to fight incompetents, people with sick brains who want to hinder the municipality. These 11 have their faucet shut off, they can't pick up. There are more that will be removed from the faucets of the municipality - the list will become 111, 211. People punished them once, after a year they will be punished again because they are tired of being lied to.
- Do you have ambitions to run for Parliament?
I personally have no ambitions.
- And people from your surroundings, who would you support and help?
- There is such a thing. There are skilled people I can stand behind, and they may come in.
