NS-BZNS President Yane Yanev, who in the previous mayoral elections in his own words "took a concession" Fidel Beev, did not miss to re-enter the election campaign in the municipality of Velingrad. At a press conference on August 27, the MP from the UDF announced that he supports the candidacy of Stoyan Dulev because of his personal qualities - a proven manager, with enough experience to implement projects and with opportunities to form a strong team. Mr. Yanev also handed out qualifications for the other mayoral candidates. According to MP Nikola Matrov, he is of retirement age and therefore the UDF and the DSB should withdraw their support for him. Ivan Lebanov was described as a "compromise candidate" and "with a party secretary profile" and Angel Toporchev as an "exotic candidate". Yane Yanev advised NDSV to clearly determine who he was behind, but neglected to address the same advice to the DPS. The Member of the National Assembly announced that together with his colleagues he will address judicial institutions to send observers to the elections in the municipality of Velingrad to see that the vote is legitimate. In an attempt to circumvent the vote, there will be "big trouble", including a referral to European structures.
