"Interest in Bulgaria as a producer of organic products is just beginning" - this is how she summarized her impressions of the World Exhibition "Biofah" the director of the Center for Business and Information-Agency for Regional Development Vaska Milusheva.
"Biofah" is a fair for organic products, where traders, distributors, manufacturers and processors from all over the world meet. The host of the exhibition is the German city of Nuremberg, and this year the organizers boasted a record number of participants. Among them were 10 Bulgarian companies, including CBI-ARR - Velingrad. On the Bulgarian stand, paid for by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, our companies have shown herbs, honey, walnuts, oils and sweet.
CBI-ARD participated in the fair with herbs and jam from wild fruits. The competition in the herbal sector is huge, shared Mrs. Milusheva. Egypt, Spain, Poland and Hungary have shown tremendous progress in this area at Nuremberg. There is also a huge variety of sweets available on the market. Here, the Velingrad "Sweet for Connoisseurs" has made a big impression with the fact that it is produced from whole fruits. In the European market, most jams are from ground fruits, contain pectins and approach marmalade. While the sweets offered by the CBI-ARR are 100 percent organic, there is not even a lemontozu in them. "Such a thing we have not eaten!" said most of our tasted sweet from whole fruits. Inquiries about them are coming from Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Spain, but talks and negotiations are yet to come.
According to Vaska Milusheva, there are still few people in Bulgaria who are aware of the difference between organic and non-organic products, and the term "bio" itself is much speculated. Organic products are not only healthy food, they provide sustainability to nature and pollute it. In order for a product to be truly organic, certification is needed in the first place. Only this ensures that there is constant control in its production not to use chemical preparations and genetically modified ingredients. In terms of certification, which is the toughest part of the procedure, CBI-ARR has already achieved a lot. The agency has 3 certificates, thanks to which its path to the European market has been opened: for 20 hectares of agricultural land for the production of herbs, for 220,000 hectares of forest from which wild fruits are harvested and for the production of organic sweet. So the CBI-ARR produced is already really in the big market and will fight for its place in Europe.
