On 29 November, the Velingrad Socialists demonstrated increased self-esteem of a political force with a 100-year history. For the celebrations on the occasion of the centennial anniversary of the socialist movement in the Chepinska Krai in the halls of the gallery and the Ljen Community Center there were no vacancies, many people remained standing. The focus was BSP President Sergey Stanishev, who kept his promise and arrived in Velingrad immediately after the vote of no confidence in Simeon Saxe-Coburg's government in parliament.
VETERANS - PROUD WITH PARTY HISTORY
Only 11 years after Buzludzha, socialist ideas penetrated in Chepinsko - with these words the meeting of veterans opened BSP-Velingrad Vice-President Venko Bozev. A detailed report on the history of the socialist movement was presented by Nikola Deliev. Many were the speeches of the party veterans, and with particular interest was listened to by.. Atanas Semerdzhiev. He described the creation of Velingrad and the anti-fascist struggle as the most important deeds in the history of local socialists. According to him, it is the BSP's task to resist any opinion that there was no fascism in Bulgaria, and the party should be proud of the Patriotic War, which was its work.
MEMORY PLATE FOR JUNIOR
Led by the brass orchestra and the cheerleaders, the Socialists headed to the two monuments in the centre of Ludgene. Especially for the ceremony arrived the MP and vice-president of BSP Georgi Pirinski, and minutes before the beginning came the leader Sergey Stanishev, who received numerous congratulations and flowers from the attendees. First, wreaths and flowers were laid in front of the monument to those who died in the Balkan War. The same ceremony was then repeated in front of the monument to the fallen anti-fascists. Sergei Stanishev opened a plaque placed in the alley in front of the monument, where earlier in the day a tree was planted in honor of the 100th anniversary.
BETWEEN NOSTALGIA AND RENEWAL
The culmination of the celebrations was the meeting-concert in the crowded hall of the community center. Among the official guests were presented the deputy mayor of the municipality Snezhana Veleva, Nadezhda Klyuchkova from NDSV, Alexander Gushevilov from BEL and others. In addition to the members of the higher and regional leadership of the BSP, the MP from BCP "Bulgaria" Alexander Paunov and the head of the Regional Forest Management Ivan Kormushev were also present. The hall stood twice on its feet - for the Bulgarian anthem and for the International. The spirit of nostalgia reinforced poems by Smirnenski and Vaptsarov, performed by participants in the TIT club "Al. Konstantinov" and by Yanko Pavlov. In his festive speech, BSP-Velingrad President Toma Pachalov stressed that the 100th anniversary proves the intransience of the socialist idea, which should be passed on to the next generations. He recalled the successes of the report that the Socialists had made for the 80th anniversary and predicted that the citizens of Veligrad would reach the then standard of living in 10-15 years. Looking at the local elections next year, Mr. Pachalov said that united parties from the left sector can win them and offer better and cleaner options to solve the problems of the municipality.
With a loud applause on stage was greeted Sergei Stanishev. Those who do not love us call BSP centenary and contradict themselves, because in politics longevity means strength and vitality, he said. Mr. Stanishev paid tribute to the founders of the party, I am the veterans and to all who have stood for its existence for the last 13 years. According to him, today more and more tired and disillusioned people feel the need for left-wing rule and the BSP should lead the country to a dignified future and dynamic development. After his speech, Mr. Stanishev handed membership cards to 4 newly admitted socialists.
