At the height of the election campaign in Velingrad from 3 to 10 September, the chairman of the Municipal Council Nejat Kehayov will be in Switzerland. He went to a seminar on municipal self-government for Bulgarian mayors and chairmen of municipal councils with good experience in local initiatives. The invitation is from the organizers Swiss Helsinki Committee for Democracy, Legislative Law and Human Rights and the Bulgarian Foundation for Local Government Development. The seminar will be held in the city of Heiden. The personal invitation to Mr. Kehayov comes after the high assessment for the new municipal development plan of the municipality of Velingrad from 2007 to 2013, which was made without help from consulting companies, but with the efforts of the local capacity.
The aim of the seminar is to explore Switzerland's experience as a federal state in the field of local government. The program is very rich and covers topics such as tax system; planning, budget and control; construction regulations; public procurement; infrastructure and transport maintenance; waste removal; social problems; tourism, protection of cultural heritage and nature. Switzerland's experience in local government and the opportunities for comparison with the situation in our country will feed the Municipal Council - Velingrad with new ideas and initiatives, Nejat Kehayov believes. What of the model of Switzerland we will be able to apply in our municipality we will invite him to tell after the seminar is over.
