The Art Gallery of Velingrad has a great chance to start 2006 with an exclusive exhibition. The curator of the gallery Branko Manushev announced that confirmation has already been officially received and in the coming days an exhibition with over 15 canvases of Nikolai Roerich will be opened in Velingrad. The exhibition was to visit in October, but it turned out that the canvases were arranged abroad. Born in 1874 in St. Petersburg, Nicholas Roerich is one of the selected artists who are a phenomenon of world magnitude. He is rightly called "Prophet", "Poet of the North", "Singer of the Himalayas". His paintings reveal not only some of the most mystical places in the world - northern India, Tibet, the Himalayas. In them is encoded the wisdom and secrets of the East. And it was not by chance that Nicholas Roerich at the beginning of the twentieth century came to the realization that it was necessary to unite humanity and synthesis between East and West. In parallel with his work, he also built a life philosophy that found many followers worldwide. Societies with the name Nikolai Roerich also exist in Bulgaria, and the organizers of the exhibition will present the philosophical ideas of the artist and will look for like-minded people in our city as well. Nikolai Roerich is the author of nearly 7,000 paintings. Of them in Velingrad we will have the opportunity to see over 15. This is both small and very much, but Roerich's talent is so great that we will certainly find it in the small number of paintings. We really have the rare chance in a gallery like ours to see the works of an undisputed and globally significant artist.
