On December 2, in the big hall of the Municipality, the municipal organization of UDF held its regular reporting-election conference. The guest of the conference was the chairman of the regional leadership of UDF Dr. Penchev. For the first time at the forum of the blue party there were no congratulations from leaders of the political forces in our city.

Overall, the conference ran business and constructively. Eng. was elected chairman of the meeting. Tanya Goncheva, and for protocolist Eng. Atanaska Hrischeva. In the report of the chairman of the municipal organization, Dr. Tsvetan Dafov, the reasons for the weak performance of the UDF in the parliamentary and presidential elections for the country and in particular for the city were taken seriously. The number of UDF clubs by area for the reporting period was reported (December 1999-December 2001). From the subsequent statements it became clear that the participants in the conference each for themselves analyzed and came to the reasons that led to the negative results in June and November. The common: hubris and disregard of the superiors in the opinion of the rank-and-file members and sympathizers, bad list for the parliamentary elections as far as the "elective seats" are concerned, clientelism and in the high levels of power, tales and writings about corruption that no one bothered through these same media to deny. The regional leader Dr. Penchev thanked that in the last presidential elections, despite the negative results for the country, the municipality of Velingrad remained blue. The conference also made its choice by voting secretly and re-elected as its chairman Dr. Tsvetan Dafov with 72 votes. The other challenger Dr. Ivo Gugalov garnered 19 votes. Vice-presidents of the UDF are Mr. Shukri Yakubov and Angel Achev, members of the municipal leadership are Branko Manushev, Georgi Penkin and Musa Sertouglu. Toshko Tsvetkov was re-elected secretary of the organization. After the end of the conference, the re-elected son leader Dr. Dafov Ayavi: "Thanks for the trust that the municipal organization of UDF gives me for the second time. I want to point out that great trust is also a great responsibility that it obliges. From now on, there is a lot of work ahead for the municipal organization. Structurally we are fine, but psychologically we have a lot to do and first of all: to restore trust within the organization, between each one of us, then to come up with unified, consistent and positive messages to people. The most important thing in our future work will be to continue and start better conducting the dialogue with every member of society, because this is the way to restore the almost broken ties of the organization UDF with society."
