The public mediator competition announced by the local parliament took place on 9 March. There was a great deal of interest in the new position and many candidates appeared accordingly. The chairman of the committee was the chairman of the Municipal Council Nedzhat Kehayov, and members were Ivan Lebanov, Nikola Taushanov, Atanas Vodev, Georgi Mihaylov and Recep Sidzhim.
The Commission did not allow two of the candidates to participate in the competition because of incompleteness in their submitted documents. Their concepts within 10 minutes presented: Katerina Kudreeva, Radka Pavlova, Jeanette Burdarska, Elena Yaneva-Zisova, Ahmed Nalbantov, Vanya Staeva, Boyko Vetsov, Snezhinka Razsolkova-Zlatarova, Veselin Peshterski, Nikola Todev. By decision of the committee, the presentation of the concepts was behind closed doors. Each of the members of the committee has assessed the performance of the candidates according to the six-point system, after which the evaluations are summed up. At first place in the competition, the commission ranked the head of "Culture" ahead of time in Municipal Administration G. Burdarska, followed by the union leader of Podkrepa V. Staneva and the manager of the municipal enterprise "Sports Properties and Beaches" N. Todev.
At the beginning of the procedure N. Kehayov explained to all participants that after the committee announced the ranking, the winning candidate should receive 2/3 of the votes of the municipal councilors and only then will he be considered elected as a public mediator.
