The crisis showed that the BSP was not in isolation

The Secretary of the Supreme Council of BSP Assen Gagauzov visited Velingrad on 9 February. His visit was pre-election, but Mr. Gagauzov commented to the media and the current political situation in the country. Together with him in the press conference participated V. Bitolsky - Chief of Cabinet of Sergei Stanishev, K. Kobakov - Regional President of BSP and the municipal leader Toma Pachalov.
Mr. Gagauzov described the situation in recent weeks as an indisputable crisis of the government, which has fallen into panic. If Ognyan Gerdzhikov's candidacy for Speaker of Parliament again, it would be incorrect. Since November last year, the BSP has been collecting signatures for his resignation, it is not just about his mistakes of recent weeks. We asked for Gerdzhikov's resignation and the result is there, Ass pointed out. Gagauzov as evidence that the BSP has not lost out on its actions as an opposition. With regard to the behavior of the "New Time", he believes that they have returned to where they started from and so have put a stop to the "New Time" party. Asked whether a possible change of Lydia Shuleva would satisfy the BSP, the MP replied that the left wants the resignation of the entire government. L's resignation only. Shuleva can reconcile the ruling but not the opposition. In addition, Mr. Gagauzov expressed doubt that from the "New Time" they asked her resignation on the grounds to have a place in the government as well.
At the end of March, the lists of the candidate-deputies of the left will be ready. The leaders and seats for the coalition partners will be determined by the High Council, and the district councils will further arrange the lists. In Pazardzhik district, the Mayor of Peshtera Georgi Petarneichev overtook with 1 vote the MP Georgi Pirinski as leader of the list. Mr. Gagauzov commented that in Pazardzhik no one disputes G. Pirinski to head the list again. The BSP does not have an opinion that excludes successful mayors from running for deputies, but it also does not want to repeat the local elections on a large scale. The Secretary of the Air Force was adamant that they would not designate leaders of lists to then withdraw. Mr. Bitolski commented on the coalition formed around the independent candidate for mayor of Velingrad Atanas Vodev with the participation of BSP. According to him, the BSP and all political formations should be congratulated for having overcome their interests and have come up with a formula useful for the municipality. This is a sign of the growth of citizens in Velingrad, of overcoming differences and agreement for the sake of the city. Velingrad shows that it is realistically achievable to find a counter to the tendency municipalities to be run as corporations in the interest of certain individuals or circles. Without political bias, it came to unification to rule Velingrad by law; the municipality deserves a mayor who may be poorer, but to be honest, added K. Kobakov.
