On March 30, c. "SEGA" published a conversation of the readers of the newspaper with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmed Dikme. Mr. Dikme also answers the question of Veselin Nikiforov from Velingrad how many of the former hunting homes have been sold at no cost, have checks been made on other privatization deals and whether irregular contracts will be broken. As the topic excites the residents of Velingrad and Rakitovo, we reprint Minister Dikme's response (with abbreviations):
"As a result of the reform in the forest sector from the existing until 1999. Forest farms were taken out of business and transferred to so-called state forest companies - 16 in number at the beginning, then divided into 64. A privatization procedure was launched and so after fragmentation the state-owned companies became private, acquiring also the material fund - the equipment, the administrative buildings, the hunting homes, etc. Currently, a commission analyzes everything that has come out of the forest system and has passed into private hands. In any case, this amounts to millions of levs. Another committee analyzed the financial situation of the remaining 22 unprivatised forestry firms. Among the examples of unlawful disposal of state property, which have become a byword in recent months, I would again point to the Chukurska Polyana Hunting House above Rakitovo - a massive building on an area of 167 sq.m. along with the inventory handed over to the assets of Sutka for only 7200 leva. The building was built with voluntary work by the employees of Forestry - Rakitovo, it was financed by the former Forestry Committee and by the economic activity of the former forestry, now Rakitovo State Forestry. Almost the same way other hunting homes were transferred.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry makes daily inspections of privatization deals. In cases of found non-fulfillment of the undertaken obligations, penalties shall be charged, and in their failure to pay the Ministry shall proceed to the termination of the transactions by judicial means."
