The youth organization of BSP initiated on June 16 a discussion about the participation and role of young people in the political life in Velingrad. However, the invitation to the youth organizations of the other political forces remained silent and in the hall of the Art Gallery gathered the hosts from BSP, among which were the deputy mayors of the municipality Milian Arsov and Rajep Hodzhov, the regional co-ordinator Darya Vasileva, the member of the Supreme Court of BSP Ivan Lebanov, the municipal chairman Toma Pachalov and others. Guest of the meeting was Kristian Vigenin, Member of the Executive Bureau of the Supreme Party Council and Secretary for International Policy. The participants in the meeting expressed the opinion that the young do not have many years of political experience, but are betting on new ideas for politics. What does the BSP do to attract young staff, asked directly K. Shulev. Mr. Vigenin explained that the party leadership understands how important it is to engage the young and give them a chance to change what they do not like, because the change is within them. According to him, the people who in the years of transition were associated with the changes lived with the present, not the future. This has caused hundreds of young Bulgarians to leave the country and the next government must create prerequisites to bring them back. Mr. Vigenin boasted that there is no other party besides the BSP in which there are so many young people and pointed out that in 2003. The BSP has accepted about 6,000 new members, mostly up to 35 years. He himself stressed that it was the BSP that gave him a chance for development - a thesis that other participants in the discussion also took.
The meeting also gave rise to ideas for organizing a sports holiday for Euro 2004 under the auspices of BSP.
