Over 350 people participated in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the battle on Milevi Skali peak on September 4. The celebration opened and led the regional chairman of BSP Kostadin Kobakov. The military attach of the Russian Federation Vladimir Koligin presented a greeting. Gen. Atanas Semerdzhiev started his speech, but out of excitement he had to interrupt and his speech was completed by the member of the Operational Headquarters of the Third Insurgent Zone Gen. Vlado Tanev. Among the guests of the celebration were the Vice-President of the BSP's Armed Forces and MP Georgi Pirinski, the Mayor of Pazardzhik Ivan Evstatiev, more than 10 participants in the battle, members of the Union of Reserve Officers and Sergeants, of the BCP, municipal councilors from all over the region (including the councilors of the NMSS from Velingrad), large groups of socialists from Velingrad and from Rakitovo headed by the chairman Rositsa Harriskova. The municipal chairman of BSP - Velingrad Toma Pachalov read a declaration in support of President Georgi Parvanov's initiative to preserve the historical monuments.The short concert was attended by the women's folklore group from Ognyanovo, and M. Nalbantov recites poems about Milevi rocks. The celebration continued until late afternoon on the meadows at the foot of the peak.
