With an apparent auction on September 11, the Municipality of Velingrad sold the restaurant, diner, 1/2 of the cellar premises and adjoining terrain of the Bulgaria Hotel in the center of the district. Chepino. This site has been sold in one form or another and procedure since the dawn of democratic changes and can certainly beat all records of slow privatization in Velingrad.

Interest in the sale this time was high - six candidates bought tender documentation to participate in the bidding. Surprisingly, however, only three appeared at the auction: the Plovdiv company "Pat Engineering" Ltd., Tony Tsvetkov from Sofia and Alexander Gagov from Velingrad.
The commission for the open tender was chaired by Deputy Mayor Angel Toporchev and members Ek. Cafferinova, N. Vecov, As. Adem, D. Arshinkov, D. Filipova and lawyer Sn. Slavova. Mr. Toporchev boasted that this is the first tender to be held under the new privatization law. However, it was evident that for years the Municipality of Velingrad had not held an open tender: the committee discussed the participants' documents for a long time, then announced a break, and after an hour and a half delay the bidding began. The bidders tried to counter that the amount was startlingly large, but the commission was adamant. There was no actual bidding - Road Engineering President Nedyalko Bekirov raised the price one step, pressed by the commission's threat that if there was no bidding, the three candidates would lose their deposits of BGN 15,000. Mr. Tsvetkov objected that if there was no bidding, the commission should offer the site at the initial auction price, but lawyer Slavova disagreed with him. The final selling price of restaurant and diner "Bulgaria" reached a serious amount of 171,800 leva. If the deal goes through, the money will go into the privatization account. Funding from this account is waiting on a number of decisions of the Municipal Council. If there is money left after implementing these decisions, we will direct them to the infrastructure - asphalting of streets and lighting, said Mayor Dr. Dafov.
