In two commercial warehouses in Velingrad were found lots of poisonous cans produced in illegal workshops in the Roma neighborhood in September. The case has been high-profile for the past week after HEI authorities and police uncovered and sealed "the pots" in which jars are boiled in open-air cauldrons. It is about jars of green beans, tomatoes and vine leaves, in whose conservation not even elementary hygiene norms have been observed. Since cans do not meet the standard, there is a danger that consumption will lead to undesirable consequences, including the dangerous disease botulism.
Dr. Valya Maslarova from HEI - Velingrad reported that during their inspections on the territory of the municipalities of Velingrad and Rakitovo, about 100 jars were found, producing the illegal workshops in September. The quantities found are scrapped in a timely manner and will not be allowed on the market. However, this does not exclude the possibility that citizens had earlier purchased from the cans in question. Therefore, it is imperative that people do not consume green beans, tomatoes and vine leaves produced by the September workshops. The inspection of the health services has shown that there is no presence of dangerous foods in the children's, health and social institutions in the municipalities of Velingrad and Rakitovo.
