On July 7, a fax arrived at Vasil Levski Secondary School, forwarded by the Ministry of Education and Science, inviting the student team to participate in the 2005 Swimming World Cup. The competition will be from 12 to 16 May 2005. in the Spanish resort of Palma de Mallorca. We remind the readers that the students-swimmers from two schools in Velingrad (the girls of SOU "V. Levski” and the juniors of St. St. Cyril and Methodius Secondary School) became republican swimming champions for 2004.
Now the invitation is made to SOU "V. Levski", as the school management must make a first application for participation by 15.10.2004 at the latest. The group can include up to 15 people, 12 of them are competitors - 6 girls and 6 adolescents, two coaches and one leader. Swimmers must be born from 1988 to 1991. The group can also be represented by a smaller number of competitors (e.g. only by girls, or only by adolescents). By 15 October, 66 euros for each member of the group must also be brought in. This amount is for two nights and daily money. A second application must be made by 15.01.2005, in which the final lists, photos and all necessary documents must be submitted.
The starters will be at a 50-meter distance in all swimming styles plus relays. The assistance of the Education Ministry and that of youth and sport will be sought for the financial provision of the participation.
The exceptional chance for our student athletes to take part in such a prestigious international swimming competition is another proof of their success and an opportunity to make a good advertisement not only for themselves but also for the country and their hometown.
