The workshop will be expanded and updated by September 1st, and will be operational from October 1st. Initially, there will be a workshop for the production of women's blouses and trousers, which will provide 183 jobs. At the second stage, the German owners are planning a new workshop for dresses, skirts and blouses with 100 new jobs. The companies for the necessary construction works will be hired by Velingrad, the investors and the mayor Dr. Dafov have agreed THE FINANCIAL STATUS - SIMILAR For last year the municipality has 723 077 leva outstanding. According to the mayor, the financial situation is decent, and in 2001 were mainly hampered by unbudgeted liabilities such as costs of court cases and readings of the audit act. By the end of January, the Suyka project will be submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Water to be subjected for the second time to the EIA procedure (Environmental Impact Assessment). This is the Rubicon for the project, because a re-rejection of the EIA report will stop it. The working phase will go much easier because there are already serious French candidate investors, the mayor said. Another plus is that the lands have already been returned to Rakitovo Municipality and many of the decisions will depend on the local municipality. The mayor called on the entire Velingrad public to mobilize and unite, each to help in whatever way he could in order for the EIA report to be adopted.
