The new Regional Governor Angel Cholakov made his first official visit to the municipality of Velingrad on 7 September. The new governor is a representative of BSP, a former municipal councilor in Pazardzhik, he has worked as a director of the Information Media Plant in Dragor. After the meeting with Minister Asen Gagauzov and Vrid Mayor Atanas Vodev, Mr. Cholakov answered several journalistic questions:

- Unlike other districts, the appointments to the Regional Government in Pazardzhik go without serious tension. Does this give you hope for the work ahead? Are you satisfied with the team proposed by the coalition partners?

. Working together is a two-way process. I will do my best to keep this process going. Mayoral elections are forthcoming in Velingrad. It is very important who will be elected mayor, what team he will work with. The district government has control functions vis--vis the municipalities and everything depends on the desire of the mayors for there to be interaction.
- In connection with the floods, will the District Government initiate preventive actions in order not to repeat such disasters or to have more effective activity to overcome them?
- At present, when eliminating the consequences of disasters from the District Government depends a lot on the rational use of the allocated funds. I'm not at all happy with what I saw on the tour of the district. The most adequate are the actions taken in the municipality of Velingrad by Vrid Mayor Atanas Vodev. Right here are the biggest defeats, but also the most adequate actions by the municipality, including taking measures before the floods. However, the actions of the Basin Directorate, which led to delays in cleaning the riverbeds, are very inadequate. A national disaster response system needs to be made.
