EXHIBITION On February 2, at 5 pm, in the municipal Art Gallery will be opened an exhibition of painting by the world-renowned artist Nikolai Roerich. Fans of fine art will have the unique chance to meet his work thanks to the organizers of the visiting exhibition, who want to create a society "N. Roerich" in Velingrad.

On Saturday at a meeting of the municipal council for employment and cooperation it became clear that the municipality is ready and this week will deposit three of its projects in the office of "Beautiful Bulgaria". Projects have been prepared to repair the schools "Neofit Rilski" and "Georgi Benkovski" and the church in Kamenitsa, which this year will celebrate anniversary.

As part of a national action, the employees of the Traffic Police - Velingrad handed out light reflectors to pedestrians during the past week. The aim is for pedestrians to place reflectors on their clothes and so in the dark winter hours to reduce traffic accidents.

Because of the cold weather, several schools in Velingrad like SOU "V. Levski", OU "N. Rila" and OU "G. Benkovski” were on vacation from Tuesday to Friday last week. In educational institutions that have no problems with heating, classes began half an hour later. As of this week, the study schedule is normalizing everywhere.

The Chairman of the Municipal Council Nedzhat Kehayov took part in the General Assembly of the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria (NAMRB) on 27 and 28 January in the capital. On February 3 and 4, Mr. Kehayov will also participate in the national conference of the chairmen of municipal councils, which will be held in Veliko Tarnovo.

The Deputy Regional Governor from NDSV Ivan Avramov visited Velingrad on 26 January. He was also expected to attend the session of the local parliament that day, but that did not happen. Frightened by the cold forecasts, their visits to Velingrad last week postponed the Minister of State Administration Nikolay Vasilev and the artist Georgi Stoyanov-Bigor, who will soon present his new book here.

Two kindergartens in Velingrad - Kindergarten "Fantasia" and Kindergarten "Edelweiss" will receive teaching aids provided under a project of the Regional Government and with funding from the PHARE program. Only municipalities that have already adopted a development plan, such as Velingrad, have the right to participate in the project. The funds are allocated for integration of the Roma minority and are directed to kindergartens where there are groups without segregation.
