On December 12, 2001 the Municipal Council decided to give the water transmission network of the municipal company VKTV Ltd. to the Water Association Eurovodkomers Company Ltd. Sofia for a consideration for 10 years. This decision was appealed by the Regional Governor Ivan Dimitrov before the District Court -Pazardzhik. Case 194/2002 was filed. and the result of it is already known: the court confirms the decision of the Municipal Council - Velingrad.

On August 1, a commission of five municipal councilors, Nedzhat Kehayov, Georgi Yanev, Mikhail Alexiev, Asim Adem and Nikola Vetsov, signed the draft contract for a ten-year lease under Article 91 of the Water Act. This composition of the committee was defined in the December session decision last year and includes advisers from all groups in the local parliament.
On August 2, the final contract was signed by the mayor of the municipality Dr. Tsvetan Dafov, the manager of VKTV Ltd Eng. Atanaska Hrischeva and VKTV municipal controller Nikola Minkov on the one hand and the manager of Eurovodkomers company Yanko Peev. There are 5 annexes to the contract, including a complete and accurate investment schedule and an establishment schedule ensuring the preservation of jobs.
