As mayor of the municipality, Angel Toporchev issued an order ordering that election advertisements from billboards in the city be removed within 10 days after service. Mr. Toporchev explained that the order is in accordance with the Ordinance on Advertising and the previous order determining the exact places for election advertising of parties, coalitions and candidates. In addition, on October 7, the Municipal Election Commission sent the mayor of the municipality a decision to seize or remove the campaign materials from the places not mentioned in the order. The reason for the decision of the OIC is a complaint by the independent candidate-mayor Rumen Apostolov.
Meanwhile, Veligrad citizens witnessed another manifestation of low political culture: torn and painted posters, and two of the billboards of the candidate mayor Alexander Daskalov were inundated with white and black paint. The complete silence of political forces and candidates against the dozens of cases of abuse of campaign materials is inexplicable.
