Under the patronage of the mayor Dr. Dafov from 3 to 7 April in the hall of the Art Gallery in Velingrad will be held the First Balkan Classical Guitar Festival. The organizers are the Municipality of Velingrad and New Bulgarian University, and the general sponsor is Cable Bulgaria - Sofia. About 50 participants are expected from Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia, Cyprus and Bulgaria. The competition part will be in two rounds and in two groups (up to and over 14 years old) with a prize pool of 200 and 800 leva respectively. Grand Prix, Prize of Velingrad, other special prizes and certificates for participation will be awarded. The head of the Culture Department in the municipality Hikmet Kapsuzov announced the jury of the festival: Eva Pampas (Greece), Gerhard Reinhardt (Germany), Uro Doichivo (Serbia), Tomislav Neshkovi, Vlado Stankovski and Dimitar Doychinov. Guests of the festival will be Petko Genkov, Milena and Valentin Valchevi, Emil Petrov, Galin Penev, Petar Kobakov and Assen Marinov. Every evening there will be concerts of the guests, there will be more master classes, a luthier exhibition, a festival orchestra and a gala concert at the closing.
