OIC works under high voltage

13.09.2005 08:38 •
A week before the elections in the Municipal Electoral Commission, tensions are high. On September 8, 8 members of the OIC testified before the Economic Police - Pazardzhik. The occasion was filed by DPS MP Fidel Beev a series of complaints concerning the previous mayoral election in February 2005. The MP has filed complaints against the OIC, Municipal Administration and Vrid Mayor Vodev. The claim of F. Beev was for damages of 70 000 leva for the Municipality of Velingrad and 30 000 leva for him personally as a candidate mayor. The raising of complaints right now, on the eve of the new elections, is a serious psychological pressure on the OIC. The inquiry that has been initiated will look into whether there are any officials at fault for the cassation of the vote. By law, the fines for them are from 100 to 1000 levs.
The other "hot potato" for the OIC is the request of mayor candidate Angel Toporchev to be provided for graphological examination the petitions with which the independent candidates Nikola Matrov and Stoyan Dulev are registered for participation in the elections. The OIC forwarded the competence request to the CECMI, but a response from the central election commission has not yet been received, and the deadline has passed. Mr. Toporchev does not hide his intentions to seek his rights to the end, including in court.
