On October 29 in the big hall of the municipality the Municipal Election Commission presented the certificates to the elected municipal councilors. Since the chairwoman of the OIC Miliyana Shuleva together with the vice-chairman P. Chryschev and the secretary M. Dzhivkov at that time presented the protocols at the CECMI in Sofia, leading the ceremony was Maria Mateva. Several of the newly elected municipal councillors did not come to receive their certificates.
In addition to the 29 councillors, the OIC also handed the certificates to five mayors elected in the first round: Mustafa Eyupov - second term of Krastava, Ahmed Krantev - third term of Pashovo, Salih Ali of Medeni Polyani, Mustafa Pashaliev in Rohlevo and Svetlin Mechov in Ablanitsa.
After the ceremony, we sought the opinion of three of the new councilors in the Municipal Council on the question "How will you return to the hall of the Municipal Council - Velingrad the problems and the opinion of the citizens?". Here's what they said:
Atanas Vodev, NMSS: Citizens' problems should be identified, discussed between the citizens themselves, not citizens to learn about the decisions of the session after the fact. This could be done in many ways, there must be goodwill and a sense of responsibility. The discussion to be made public, using the mass media, to have enough technological time to put the issues for discussion - to have not less than two weeks between the question being put and its resolution in the Municipal Council. In this way, one could enter the Hall of the Municipal Council with the opinion of the people.
It is also mandatory to seek feedback from people once we have come to a decision. Asan Kepchelyov, DPS: We will bring back to the hall of the Municipal Council the problems and the opinion of the people by being honest and working for the citizens. Not for any interests, but for the people and the beautification of the city. We should leave the narrow party interests and think about the people of Velingrad and the municipality.
Toma Pachalov, BSP: So far, the BSP group in the Municipal Council has defended the interests of the population. We are working and will continue to work for Veligrad citizens' interests, not for parties or interests of operatic personalities.
