Fifth Chamber of the Pazardzhik District Court for the second time did not give a go to the criminal case in which Fidel Beev is on trial. The reason for the new postponement by another month was that Beev's chosen lawyer Plamen Yalnuzov was on a business trip to Paris. In the courtroom was presented the order for the secondment, signed by the justice minister in connection with the protection of Bulgarian medics in Libya, on which Mr. Yalnuzov is working. It turned out that the posting expired exactly on April 21, the date set by the court a month ago for the case against F. Beev. The defendant announced that it was the defense of lawyer Yalnuzov (by law there is a theoretical possibility that in a similar case the court would appoint an ex-officio lawyer to hear the case). With the consent of District Attorney Ivan Daskalov, who is the prosecutor in the case, the application for a stay was accepted.
The Judicial Chamber did not respect Krasimir Beev's request to cancel the fine of 300 leva imposed on him for failing to appear at the previous hearing. He presented a sick day, but according to the judge, once a home regime was set, Krasimir Beev could have come to court.
We recall that the criminal case was initiated with the accusation that as mayor of the municipality of Velingrad in 2004. Fidel Beev has violated the Public Procurement Act and has caused the municipality property damage for over BGN 16,000 by supplying fuels from the family company SD "Brothers Beevi". According to the indictment, the Beevi Brothers SD did not win the public procurement competition and sold fuels to the municipality at higher prices than those announced in the offer.
Following the re-delay, the case was transferred to 20 May 2005. Thus, Mr. Beev gained another valuable month of time on the eve of the parliamentary elections.
