On March 1, the Municipal Council approved the new structure of the Municipal Administration (OA). The total number of staff will be 76.5 states - one state more than the current one, which is intended for a lawyer. Of the total, 73.5 states are financed from the state budget, and the remaining 3 will be financed from municipal revenues.
What is new in the administration, as we have already written, is the place for a third deputy mayor. So far, the municipality has always worked with two deputy mayors, but like many of the other municipalities in the country, there will now be another one that will be directly responsible for European integration. For the same purpose, there will also be a special "European integration" department with three employees. The task of the third deputy mayor and the department will be to fight for funds from the European pre-accession funds. During the committee meeting last week, Mayor Fidel Beev announced to the councilors that the work of the third deputy mayor will be much more in Sofia, where he will fight for the protection of municipal projects. We have an experienced person for the position, Mr. Beev said.
According to the amendments to the local administration law, a unit of the Municipal Council was to be included in the structure. The legislature has decreed that premises be provided in municipalities where citizens can obtain from municipal officials the information they need about the decisions of local parliaments for the past 10 years. For the first time this year, the municipal budget will also have costs for the remuneration of municipal councilors for participation in sessions and committees, a choice of a public mediator is forthcoming, it is possible to add another deputy chairman to the paid number for the chairman of the Municipal Council soon.
