A composition of the Pazardjik District Court confirmed the decision of the Municipal Electoral Commission for the early termination of the mayoral term of the mayor of Velingrad Fidel Beev because of the participation in the management of the Beevi collective society.
Wednesday's trial was on Fidel Beev's appeal against the OIC-Velingrad decision of June 17. Violation of local self-government and local administration, according to which a mayor cannot be a manager of a company within the meaning of the Commerce Act, the magistrates found. They therefore dismissed Beev's complaint as unfounded. However, Beev's lawyers claim that he took the necessary actions to delete his name from the register back in February and cannot be held responsible for the sluggishness of our judicial system, Darik Radio reported. The decision of the court is subject to appeal within 14 days before the Supreme Administrative Court. Beev, who claimed it would take much longer than preparing for new elections, announced he would appeal.
